Dr. Joel Stein, Chief of the Department of Rehabilitation at NewYork-Presbyterian/Cornell/Columbia, participated in a Congressional Briefing in the U.S. Capitol Visitors Center in Washington, D.C. on October 6, 2016.
Dr. Stein, Vice-Chair of the Guidelines Panel, and other members of the Guidelines Panel presented the new stroke guidelines set by the American Heart Association(AHA)/American Stroke Association (ASA). These guidelines are the first evidence-based guideliens that focus on rehabilitation and recovery of stroke survivors.
In reference to the guidelines, Dr. Stein said "Comprehensive coordinated, inter-professional care is essential in stroke rehabilitation, and these guidelines capture those important principles to outline how we can best treat and help patients recover from stroke."
